Discovery, Diversity, Access:
Welcome to the 2007-08 UW World Series!

Through the vibrant artistry of its creative productions and its enriching education programs, the UW World Series strives to expand our community's knowledge and understanding of world cultures. The UW World Series is a powerful example of the University of Washington's commitment to discovery, diversity, and access to the world.

We believe the arts are an integral part of our community, our nation, and our world, and that they offer a common and accessible avenue for learning and cross-cultural understanding. With our world becoming smaller and increasingly interdependent, the UW World Series' mission to present a varied program of artists from around the globe is more relevant today than ever before. During this season alone, we are proud to present internationally-acclaimed artists from 18 countries spanning five continents.

It is our vision to engage our audiences in deeper discussions of art and world cultures, as well as to cultivate an open and informed community. Beyond the stage, the UW World Series will continue to offer nearly 100 free educational programs to K-12 students, UW students, and community members. Through residencies, master classes, community forums, and other activities with visiting artists, we hope to enrich the lives of each participant, inspire diversity in tomorrow's artists, and nurture global citizens for generations to come.

Thank you,

Matthew Krashan, Director, UW World Series
